De planning klopt wel een beetje - Stil basically according to plan

Vandaag maandag 23 april 2018. Al een jaar lang ben ik met mn kleinzoon die in Australië woont, bezig om een pannetje te maken voor zijn 8 weken logeerpartij bij mij, zijn OmaFarAway.

Zijn specifieke wens was Berlijn. Verder, 'dat weet je zelf het beste oma. Laat mij maar van alles zien. het is allemaal nieuw en onbekend.' End aar heeft hij gelijk in. Ik heb gekozen. De adresjes tot nu toe zijn prima bevallen. Zelfs de aanpassingen hebben weinig invloed gehad - behalve dan eventjes die koude week. Maar ook toen mocht de pret niet ontbreken.

Dit is OmaFarAway aan het werk

Eigenlijk is het een jonge net als velen- de jeugd leeft in een hele andere belevingswereld als wij. Toch weet hij zich van dagelijkse dingen te 'genieten' op een nuchtere niet overdreven enthousiaste manier. Ook hij, net als velen, heeft een 'relatie' met zijn telefoon. Niet verwonderlijk. Hier zijne r geen 'extra' dingetjes, dus als ik bezig ben dan zou hij toch maar zitten duimen. De realiteit van deze tijd is toch wel- contact houden met vrienden. Zo weet ik nu ook meer wat hem boeit. Waar hij naar kijkt, wat hij leest. Geen giga uitschieters of eye-openers. Zoals hij nu mijn loopje naar de supermarkt kent, de chinees waar we een keer per maand eten halen en zulke huishoudelijke weetjes, heb ik wat inzicht in zijn wereld gekregen.

Hij heeft zijn kennis gedeeld door mij te leren hoe ik muziek kan omzetten en opslaan. Vindt het 'toff' dat ik als OmaFarAway een YouTube kanaal hebt waar ik videos over het reilen en zeilen van zijn reis en ook Nederlandse beelden op zet.

Als je wilt, kijk naar zijn belevenissen in Nederland en zie 'ons' landschap voorbij komen. De link ernaartoe staat onder het grappige plaatje. Waan jezelf even mee op de achterbank. De 21 video's gaan over mij en Nederland en zo. De eerste erg 'beginners stijl' maar toch. Ik pas ze niet aan want dat zou niet eerlijk zijn. Groeien is ook mooi nietwaar.

Vandaag vertrekken wij tweetjes naar Schotland. Een oma kleinzoon uitje. Weekje weg. Fijn voor hem om Engels sprekende om zich heen te hebben. Erg vermoeiend om alsmaar te worstelen met wat er gezegd wordt. De beetjes die hij wel kent zijn niet toereikend om  een  gesprek te volgen. Hopelijk lukt het mij om hierover ook wat te plaatsen op de videokanaal. Lijkt me spannend. Ik leer steeds meer als 'oudje'. Fijne week verder allemaal en tot schrijfs /video.


Today we are in the proces sof packing up ready for our adventure in Schotland. During our planning I asked for specific wishes and got, ' Berlin oma, that's a must The rest is up to you.' And to date things have gone as good as picture perfect. Can't plan weather but the rest has been reasonably, well truthfully, almost perfect to plan.

Now our 'cross the ditch' journey. I'm excited and keen to show some of the Scottish landscape, castles and history. Why Scotland? Guess because it is something we, hubby and I, would do. This way, my grandson gets to experience something he can relate to when he hears of our activities int he future. Taking the ferry 'across the ditch'.

I've had some insights into his activities, likes, dislikes and way of looking at the world. Our teenagers have such a different experience then we have had. Times, they sure are a changing. Not only am I now more familiar with his ways and thoughts, he now knows the path to my local supermarket, daily routine and possibilities we have to entertain, amuse or experience life on a daily basis.

The world is changing. not only for him. I've joined the video makers of today. Not VHF like in the 'old days' but using my phone and a YouTube channel. This OmaFarAway has been able to impress her grandson and others by being this bold. Believe me, I was scared to try. Learning as I go. Including with Max's help to download, convert and save music. I need the right stuff to add to the videos. I'm proud and so is he. So if you want to follow his antics and mine- just click on the link onder the picture. Saturday we went to a new experience- A Fantasy Fair in Haarzuilens. You can see what that was like by clicking on the link. All the videos, 22 in all, are about Nederland, bits and bobs and certainly the forst few- very amateurish but at least I dared. I'd redo them but that's cheating. Ok, time to get the luggage in the car and off to IJmuiden to catch the overnight ferry to Newcastle. Till next time...OmaFarAway signing off for now.
